On the set of Today in Nashville, TN
Jane and her husband Glenn live in the beautiful mountains of Northeast Tennessee in the United States. They are both Master Gardeners, Reiki Masters, and raw vegan. Neither takes any medication, with the exception of occasional supplementation when needed, as all of their required nutrients are obtained from the food they eat. Doctors are astounded at their general health and well being, mental clarity, low blood pressure, low cholesterol, and in general how well their bodies function.
RAW CHEF JANE with the BEST Sous Chef in the land, her husband Glenn. Glenn is on hand to help with everything in the kitchen, including some fun anecdotes, and to tell you about his dramatic weight loss and improved health since becoming raw vegan. Jane has been raw vegan going on 10 years and Glenn has been raw vegan 8 years, and both have achieved optimum health by maintaining a raw vegan lifestyle.
Picking some fresh goodies from the garden for an upcoming class. Much of what is used for classes during the summer months is picked fresh from Jane and Glenn's organic garden, and many herbs used year round are from the garden. You might be surprised at how much raw food you already incorporate in your food rotation!

Here's a recent article from Big Spring Master Gardeners:
Hi, I’m Jane Karuschkat. I am a Raw Vegan Chef, Instructor and Teacher, as well as a Certified Nutritional Consultant, Life Coach, Reiki Master; artist and musician. I have written several articles about being raw vegan and currently authored a raw vegan un-cookbook, It’s Not Just Salad. My philosophy is that a healthy way of living is made up of a healthy diet, and that the body, mind and spirit must all be addressed when seeking optimum health, something with which I am all too familiar being a two-time, metastatic breast cancer survivor.
My husband, Glenn, and I (and our cockatoo, Petunia) moved to this area almost seven years ago, and we just love it. Through the motivation of being a Master Gardener, my husband and I grow much of our own food during the warmer months.
In BSMGA, I am the captain of the Sunshine Team, interacting with the interns (and MG’s), making sure everyone is fed during their classes and meetings, and hopefully putting a smile on everyone’s face! This is what I enjoy most and it’s a role that’s perfectly suited to my personality, as I’m a wee bit of an extrovert.
I am a Master Gardener!

Jane Karuschkat, born and raised in New York, now lives in the rural community of Chuckey with her husband Glenn. Their half-acre of property sits atop a hill with a magnificent mountain view.
“We love our view of cows, horses, the garden and the beautiful mountains,” Jane said.
The Karuschkats have a garden filled with zucchini, herbs, corn, onions, peppers, beans, asparagus, sweet potatoes, kale, cauliflower, cantaloupe and watermelon. Click to see more...
